Trip cancellations and interruptions
Can’t travel? No problem.
We understand that unexpected events can disrupt your travel plans. An illness or a family emergency can make it simply impossible to head out on your trip as planned. That’s why our trip cancellation travel insurance benefit can cover up to AUD $2,000 per traveller ensuring you’re protected against a range of unexpected events.

What does the insurance cover?
Our trip interruption protection travel insurance policies are designed to cover events such as:
- Serious illness, injury or death of you, a travelling companion, a close relative or any person you’ve planned to stay with for a significant part of the trip.
- Cancellation or restriction by the carrier of pre-paid scheduled public transport services, caused by severe weather, natural disaster, riot, strike or civil commotion.
- We’ll pay up to the amount shown in the Schedule Of Benefits for the following (selection):
- Non-refundable travel, accommodation and ancillary purchases you don’t use because you can’t begin or complete the planned trip
- Rearrangement costs up to the value of cancellation fees if you decide to reschedule your trip
What's not covered? Some exclusions are:
- The insurance excludes claims foreseeable at the time of policy purchase.
- Any event that is not listed as covered in the ‘When cover applies’ section’ in the PDS document.

Travel delays
The cover applies if, during a trip, your pre-paid public transport is delayed by more than six hours for reasons beyond your control and you need to arrange additional accommodation. For exclusions, please check the General Exclusions section of the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
Baggage and personal effects
When you’re travelling, no matter how careful you are, items can end up lost, stolen, or damaged such as jewellery, a smart phone, and other various items that you hold dear.

What does the baggage and personal effects insurance cover?
- Damaged items – we’ll repair damage where practical and economical to do so.
- Stolen and lost items – we’ll replace any items available from our usual suppliers, where practical and economical to do so.
- For items we agree we can’t repair or replace, we’ll calculate your benefit based on a depreciation calculation. See the PDS for further details.
What's not covered?
- Baggage or personal effects if you don’t reasonably attempt to claim compensation from the carrier.
- Valuables you leave in a motor vehicle for any length of time, even if secured in the baggage area of the motor vehicle.

Personal liability
You never think that you’ll be to blame for damages. But unfortunately, these things can happen while you’re travelling. If you find yourself in a position where you’re legally liable to pay compensation for damages or injuries, you want all the help you can get. That’s where a personal liability benefit can help reduce financial worries at an already emotionally strained time.
What does the personal liability insurance cover?
- If during your trip, your negligence causes: i) injury to a person not a member of your family or travelling party; or ii) loss or damage to property not owned by you, a member of your family or travelling party
- We will cover legal expenses and any resulting judgments or settlements up to AUD $2,500,000.
What's not covered?
- Intentional, unlawful, wilfully negligent or malicious acts by you.
