MyWay Mutual Privacy Policy

MyWay Mutual Holdings Limited  (MyWay Mutual) values and respects the privacy of the people we deal with. We adhere to Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act), including the Australian Privacy Principles and other applicable privacy laws and regulations.

This Privacy Policy (Policy) describes how MyWay Mutual collects, holds, uses, and discloses your personal information and how we maintain the quality and security of your personal information.

 

What is personal information?

“Personal information” means any information or opinion, whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an identified individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. In general terms, this includes information or an opinion that personally identifies you either directly (e.g., your name) or indirectly.

 
What personal information does MyWay Mutual collect and how do we collect it? 

MyWay Mutual has appointed:

  • Camplify Co (Australia) Pty Ltd (“Camplify AU”) and Camplify Co (NZ) Limited (“Camplify NZ”) to distribute MyWay Protect and sign up members via the Camplify platforms;   
  • MyWay Protection Pty Ltd (“MyWay Protection”) to administer MyWay Protect, including providing claims and complaint handling. 

Camplify AU, Camplify NZ and MyWay Protect each collect  personal information for these purposes, please see the following privacy policies for details:

 

MyWay Mutual receives your personal information from Camplify AU, Camplify NZ, and MyWay Protection for the purposes of providing MyWay Protect and managing your membership of MyWay Mutual. The information received includes 

  • name, 
  • mailing or street address;
  • date of birth;
  • email address;
  • phone number; 
  • information regarding claims made; and  
  • requests for the MyWay Mutual Board to review a claim 

If you have requested a review of a claim, we may request additional information directly from you for the Board to conduct its review.  

You do not have to provide us with your personal information. However, if you choose not to provide us with your personal information, we will not be able to provide membership of MyWay Mutual, issue MyWay Protect to you, or conduct any requested review. 

 

How do we use your personal information? 

 

MyWay Mutual uses your personal information for many purposes in connection with our functions and activities, including: 

  • maintaining MyWay Mutual’s register of members;
  • managing  MyWay Mutual’s memberships;
  • providing MyWay Protect for our members;  
  • reporting on, and review of, claims by the MyWay Mutual Board; 
  • review of MyWay Protect to better service MyWay Mutual Members;  
  • internal administrative purposes; and 
  • research and marketing purposes. 

 

Disclosure of personal information to third parties

 

We do not and will not sell or deal in personal or customer information. We may disclose your personal information to: 

  • MyWay Protection, Camply AU, and Camplify NZ to assist them to provide services to MyWay Mutual and to our members;  
  • third parties who assist us in providing MyWay products and services to you (such as IT providers).

 

Transfer of personal information overseas

Some of the third-party service providers we disclose personal information to may be based in or have servers located outside of Australia.

Where we disclose your personal information to third parties overseas, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that data security and appropriate privacy practices are maintained. We will only disclose to overseas third parties if:

  • you have given us your consent to disclose personal information to that third party; or
  • we reasonably believe that:
    • the overseas recipient is subject to a law or binding scheme that is, overall, substantially similar to the Australian Privacy Principles; and
    • the law or binding scheme can be enforced; or
  • the disclosure is required or authorised by an Australian law or court/tribunal order.

 

How do we protect your personal information?

MyWay Mutual will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information that we hold about you is kept confidential and secure, including by:

  • physical security of our premises and databases/records;
  • taking measures to restrict access to only personnel who need that personal information to effectively provide products and services to you;
  • conducting an IT security assessment of the measures used by our third-party service providers who process and store personal information on our behalf.  

 

Cookies and Analytics 

MyWay Mutual’s website uses cookies to enhance user experience and analyse traffic. These cookies recognise returning devices and may facilitate relevant third-party advertising. Users can disable cookies in their browser settings, though this might impact website functionality. The website also uses Google Tag Manager for traffic analysis, which is mostly anonymous but could potentially be linked to individual users.

 

Marketing 

We may send you direct marketing communications and information about our products and services, opportunities, or events that we consider may be of interest to you if you have requested or consented to receive such communications. These communications may be sent in various forms, including SMS and email, in accordance with applicable marketing laws, such as the Australian Spam Act 2003 (Cth). If you wish to cease receiving any such information, you may let us know either by email or by unsubscribing at any time.

 

Retention of personal information

We will not keep your personal information for longer than we need to.  In most cases, this means that we will only retain your personal information for the duration of your relationship with us unless we are required to retain your personal information to comply with applicable laws; for example, information relating to financial transactions is usually kept for 6 years. 

 

How to access and correct your personal information

MyWay Mutual will endeavour to keep your personal information accurate, complete, and up to date. You have a right under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) to access personal information that MyWay Mutual holds about you.  We will respond to your request within 30 days. You may also ask us to correct this information if it is wrong. All requests should be sent to info@mywaymutual.com 

 

Aggregated and anonymised information 

MyWay Mutual may use, in a general sense, without any reference to your name or your information, to create marketing statistics, identify user demands, and to assist it in meeting customer needs generally. In addition, we may use the information that you provide to improve our products and services. 

 
Links to third-party sites

MyWay Mutual’s website may contain links to websites operated by third parties. If you access a third-party website through our website, personal information may be collected by that third-party website. We make no representations or warranties in relation to the privacy practices of any third-party provider or website, and we are not responsible for the privacy policies or the content of any third-party provider or website. Third-party providers/websites are responsible for informing you about their own privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

 

Inquiries and complaints

For complaints about how MyWay Mutual handles, processes, or manages your personal information, please contact info@mywaymutual.com. We may require proof of your identity and full details of your request before we can process your complaint.

 

Please allow up to 30 days for MyWay Mutual to respond to your complaint. It will not always be possible to resolve a complaint to everyone’s satisfaction. If you are not satisfied with our response to a complaint, you have the right to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (at www.oaic.gov.au/) to lodge a complaint.

 

Change in privacy policy

As we plan to ensure our privacy policy remains current, this policy is subject to change. We may modify this policy at any time, at our sole discretion, and all modifications will be effective immediately upon our posting of the modifications on this website.
